Playing Midi Files

Postby mon8169 » Sat Jul 03, 2010 12:07 pm

Hi,

I would like to play midi files from my SW1000XG easily, without having to mount a project in any sequencer, just using a midi player (like van Bascos). Up to now what I've done is to use the Patch program from Yamaha to activate the digital SW In from the DS2416, but since it doesn't save any configuration it is a hassle to have to do it every time.

Is there a better way to do it? Does a sysex message to activate the digital SW In from the DS2416 exist?

thanks in advance

Hi Ramon,

The DS doesn't respond to MIDI at all, so no sysex message will do the trick. My suggestion is therefore to download LUI (http://www.sporatica.com), and use it instead of the patch utility. It allows you to save mixer presets/snapshots, and can be configured to load one of these on startup. This way, you would only need a double-click to have the correct settings in place.

First you'll need to save the preferred settings to a file. You then edit the lui.ini file with notepad, to include the path of the file you just made. The LUI manual will explain this procedure in detail. :)
