Hi,

In your original post, you described your experiment with "Virtual XP mode":
...and loaded the "updated" XP drivers (28/08/02) within Windows Virtual XP Mode.

What I'm suggesting is having the WDM drivers installed under normal Win7 operation, and then try running XGworks using the virtual XP environment to see if it works. The question is: Can Win7's device drivers be accessed when in Virtual XP Mode?

imo, the xgworks was too old to be used in new os like vista/win7, i think you should try yamaha's latest sequencer software SOL2 or SQ01(sure, also outdated, long time no update...)

ps:it was said that the xgworks's latest version was xgworks st, which is the function reduced version of SOL(st means SOL Technology)

sorry for my remiss post, i've just install the win7 and seems that the SOL2 couldn't work either, neither wave device nor midi device was found in SOL2, though i was managed to play midi using xgplayer+xgeditor to access the sw1000 hardware plus plg100-vl.
maybe i should suggest using the steinberg cubase 5 for editing midi files, for yamaha has just released the xgeditor for cubase5...

after a long time google searching, i finally found a solution for sol2 running on win7:

just change the install(not installed) exe's compatible mode to xp sp2, reinstall, then every thing is ok~

Hello users of the SW1000XG.

I do have a new computer with windows 7 home premium. I cannot get my sw1000xg card working. Device manager sees a multimedia audiocontroller but I cannot point out the updatefile. When I manually try to update the driver file it cannot find it.

Is there someone who knows what steps I have to make to get my SW1000 at work?
Would be nice. It worked for years under my XP version and I hope I will get that sound back under windows 7.

Thanks..
Henk.

Hi Henk,

I'm on a XP computer at the moment, but the steps for Win7 should be more or less the same:

First, if you haven't already, download the newest available drivers (You'll find them here: http://www.xpi-software.net/Drivers/Win2K_XP.zip) and remember to extract the .zip-archive to a folder of your choice.

- Open the Device Manager, locate the multimedia audio controller (which should be your SW1000XG), right-click on it, and select "update driver".
- In the Hardware Update Wizard that pops up, choose "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click "next".
- Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" and click "next".
- Click "Have Disk..." and browse to the folder where the driver .zip-file was extracted.
- Select the file named "sw1000xg.inf", click "OK" and then "next".
- When the computer warns you that the device hasn't passed the Windows Logo certification, click "Continue anyway"
- After the driver update, when you're asked "Do you want to restart your computer now?", click "Yes".

When the computer is running again, you can check the Device Manager. The SW1000XG should now be visible.
